About The Position

Logistics & Storage Engineering (L&SE) is an engineering service and project management organization comprised of engineering and other resources that primarily manage project work associated with pipeline, terminals, and marine organizations within MPLX. L&SE is seeking an experienced Project Engineer. The project engineer manages and is responsible for all aspects of assigned projects including project scope, estimate, schedule, engineering design, equipment and material selection, project bidding, contractor selection, construction oversight, management of change, safety and environmental oversight, and any other project tasks necessary to complete a successful project. MPC prides itself on having the highest level of safety and quality in the industry, and we expect our project engineers to hold themselves to that high standard as well. This position belongs to a family of jobs with increasing responsibility, competency, and skill level. Actual position title and pay grade will be based on the selected candidate’s experience and qualifications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from a four-year accredited college or university.
  • 3+ years of industry experience required.
  • Valid driver's license is required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with all levels of individuals/employees.

Nice To Haves

  • Civil, Mechanical, or similar engineering degrees are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with affected departments during project development to vet resource estimates, schedules, business benefits, environmental/health/safety impacts.
  • Facilitates project detailed design and technical reviews to ensure design meets corporate engineering standards.
  • Prepares bid requests for material, labor, and equipment and evaluate proposals on sound engineering and business principles.
  • Supports multiple projects simultaneously of varying magnitude and complexity from conception to commissioning and start-up.
  • Acts as a safety leader who upholds company core values and prioritizes personal and process safety. Prepares and leads engaging project safety meetings, drives safely, utilizes the MOC process, and supports the development and implementation of business partner energy isolation procedures. Supports department and company HES goals.
  • Troubleshoots operational issues and optimizes processes utilizing sound engineering practices.
  • Participate in project safety reviews including HAZOPs, PHAs, PSSR, etc.
  • Tracks project budgets, work orders, and purchase orders, and schedules and maintain a firm understanding of potential issues before they arise.
