About The Position

The Project Engineer supports the successful execution of dry utility construction projects by assisting with project coordination, documentation, and financial tracking. This role works closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and field teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in alignment with company standards. The Project Engineer plays a critical role in maintaining project organization, supporting communication between stakeholders, and driving accountability across all phases of the project lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 3+ years of construction or related industry experience.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in dry utilities, underground electrical infrastructure, or highway construction.
  • Experience with construction software (Bluebeam, Procore, Viewpoint, P6) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning, execution, and closeout of dry utility construction projects (electric, telecom, gas, etc.)
  • Support Project Manager(s) with day-to-day project operations and coordination
  • Maintain accurate and organized project documentation, including contracts, drawings, and specifications
  • Distribute and track project documents to ensure alignment across project teams
  • Prepare, track, and manage submittals to clients and engineers
  • Draft and track Requests for Information (RFIs) to ensure timely resolution of design or field issues
  • Maintain logs for submittals, RFIs, and other project controls
  • Assist with project budgeting, forecasting, and cost tracking
  • Support change order preparation and tracking for both clients and subcontractors
  • Review invoices and assist with pay applications and billing processes
  • Help identify cost impacts and support variance analysis
  • Support development and updates of project schedules
  • Coordinate with field teams to track progress and identify potential delays
  • Assist in planning material procurement and delivery timelines
  • Maintain regular communication with Superintendents and field crews to support project needs
  • Conduct job site visits to gain understanding of field operations and progress
  • Support resolution of field issues through coordination with internal and external stakeholders
  • Assist with project closeout processes including punch lists, as-builts, and final documentation
  • Ensure all required project documentation is complete and properly archived
