About The Position

JMT is seeking a Project Engineer in Butte, MT for an exciting opportunity to work with the federal government. The Project team member will be responsible for assisting with: (1) providing construction project oversite using knowledge of general engineering and construction principles and practices to interpret, organize, coordinate, communicate and execute assignments with limited supervision, (2) ensuring work is performed and completed in accordance to the contract documents, and (3) providing support to other team members, and (4) other tasks as may be assigned by the Project Manager/Supervisor.

  • Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, architectural or a related field from an accredited engineering, construction management or architectural program
  • 0 to 5 years’ experience in a construction related discipline.

  • Knowledgeable in construction testing and inspection requirements

Responsibilities

  • Assist with planning, scheduling and coordinating work throughout the various phases of the project.
  • May be responsible for a portion of a large project or the entirety of a small to medium size project.
  • Read and interpret construction documents such as drawings, specifications, geotechnical reports, testing and inspection reports, maps, aerial photography, topographical surveys and etc.
  • Monitor project progress to ensure work is being provided in accordance with contract plans and specifications.
  • Prepare reports and logs such as inspector daily reports, cost to date, estimated cost to complete, submittals, RFI’s, etc.
  • Use a Project Management Information System (PMIS) to review, manage, and coordinate contractor submittals, documents and RFI’s, etc.
  • Perform Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) inspections and coordinate project team construction reviews
  • Assist with performing quantity surveys and take-offs from contract documents and actual work-in-place
  • Assist with preparing construction cost budgets and estimates
  • Assist in the preparation of engineering documents for advertisement and bidding activities
  • Prepare and compile contract plans, specifications and estimates
  • Manage project sub-consultants and in-house support disciplines
  • Develop extra work order requests and open-end contract task proposals
  • Prepare proposals as required
  • Attend various meetings, record and distribute meeting minutes
  • Communicate and coordinate with team members to ensure project completion by the defined milestones and established quality guidelines
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
