About The Position

Project Engineer is a vital contributor supporting the successful, safe, and timely delivery of groundwater treatment and dewatering projects. You’ll work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and field teams to resolve technical challenges and keep projects aligned with schedule and budget. This role is ideal for an entry-level engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is eager to apply and continue to develop strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills in a combination office and field environment. You’ll be at the center of day-to-day operations, managing discrete tasks and using hands-on learning to ultimately own responsibilities such as sampling, testing, reporting, and data management as you develop your full scope project management skills.

Requirements

  • 0 - 2 years of experience in a related position.
  • College/university graduate or equivalent combination of skills and experience generally expected for specified technical roles.
  • Direct and indirect supervision.
  • Highly skilled and fully competent in all conventional aspects of subject matter or functional area.
  • Plans and conducts work requiring judgment in independent evaluation, selection and substantial adaptation/modification of standards.
  • Devise new solutions to difficult problems encountered.
  • Independently performs most assignments with little instruction.

Responsibilities

  • Perform operations and administration functions necessary for successful completion of service work and projects.
  • Support project financial management, water treatment processes, permit compliance, generating and tracking all administrative documentation, internal and external communications, and working as part of a cohesive high performing team.
  • Work as a team with assigned Project Manager or Senior Project Manager.
  • Assist with and/or perform responsibilities and tasks as delegated by the assigned Project Manager.
  • Manage contractual agreements and purchase orders with owners, contractors, subcontractors, and material suppliers.
  • Understand and comply with all safety processes and procedures.
  • Learn and become proficient user of Viewpoint/Vista project management software.
  • Participate in water treatment and testing processes and procedures.
  • Review water test results and analyze.
  • Update RK Water compliance logs weekly and monthly.
  • Participate in Monthly DMR reporting as needed.
  • Inform customers and permit holders of test results and compliance status.
  • Ensure daily project documentation is completed and up to date, including timecards, daily reports, additional work authorizations, receiving documents, as-built drawings, and more.
  • Coordinate timely job procurement through buy-out on materials and equipment, in conjunction with the superintendent and purchasing department.
  • Develop order pricing as necessary.
  • Buy-out, negotiate and issue all lower-tier subcontract(s), with emphasis on complete scopes in compliance with the contract documents and within the established budget.
  • Responsible for proper/timely processing of shop drawings, product submittals, operation and maintenance manuals, and recording all as-built drawings.
  • Review and monitor labor costs, hours, and projections with project team.
  • Responsible for initiating, overseeing, and verifying monthly project billings and maintaining an overbilled project status.
  • Ensure that change orders requests are processed in accordance with proper procedures, and that the project team has information required for implementation.
  • Ensure change orders are processed on time and are properly documented.
  • Coordinate and track material take-offs, pricing, procurement and release of materials.
  • Help with project projections for estimated costs required for completion of project.
  • Responsible for job closeout being performed in proper and efficient manner and keeping the project team informed of closeout status.
  • Optimize the profitability of the company by demonstrating the ability of a decision maker with reliable and mature judgment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
