The Project Engineer plans, develops, manages, and coordinates engineering activities for construction projects. This role is crucial for ensuring that engineering activities comply with company and contract requirements and support the overall construction schedule. The Project Engineer provides technical support for construction efforts, including design interpretation, application of construction methods, resolution of design conflicts, and constructability reviews. They interface with all on-site departments to resolve problems and ensure the quality of construction, project safety, and adherence to project specifications. The role also involves supervising field layout and surveying activities, observing workflow, anticipating schedule changes, and coordinating material delivery to stay on schedule. Additionally, the Project Engineer reviews change order drawings and specifications, develops, tracks, and negotiates proposals and change orders, and creates and executes installation verification procedures. They assist in bid preparation, including take-offs, requests for pricing, project setup, quality control, and design reviews. The role requires reviewing, analyzing, and resolving field construction problems and discrepancies, advising the Project Manager of serious schedule conflicts, and working with field supervision to resolve them. The Project Engineer analyzes permanent material requirements, solicits quotations, prepares purchase agreements, and develops requirements for specialized equipment. They also support monitoring and forecasting of project costs and revenues, assist in developing new methods to improve costs, and develop, implement, and administer project engineering procedures and other work-controlling documents. Finally, the role involves handling business correspondence, billing, and financial reporting.
