About The Position

RK&K is currently hiring a Water Resources Engineer to work in our Roanoke, VA office. The Engineer should have experience with some or all of the following areas to support municipal and transportation project designs: Stormwater Management, Erosion and Sediment Control, Hydrology & Hydraulics Design, Floodplain/Scour Modeling, and Watershed Studies, for various exciting projects throughout Virginia and surrounding States.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Civil / Environmental Engineering or similar field
  • Four (4) years of experience in Water Resources Engineering
  • E.I.T. registration minimum requirement
  • MicroStation and/or AutoCAD experience
  • Candidates will work in a diverse and challenging environment and must be capable of working on and coordinating simultaneous tasks and have ability to coordinate technical matters with public and private entities

Nice To Haves

  • Registered P.E. highly preferred
  • HEC-RAS and/or PCSWMM experience
  • Civil3D/ORD experience
  • Pondpack, HydroCAD, or similar stormwater routing software

Responsibilities

  • Develop, evaluate, and design stormwater management facilities to support municipal and transportation infrastructure projects across RK&K’s vast portfolio
  • Analyze and model stormwater conveyance systems and storage designs
  • Hydrologic and Hydraulic (H&H) design of culverts, bridges and dams and produce engineering drawings for stormwater control BMPs
  • 1D and 2D Floodplain analysis using HEC-RAS and PCSWMM
  • Attend and present project status updates at client meetings; Provide excellent client services with a focus on quality and timeliness
  • Meet and work directly with other design team members including project manager, project engineers, design technicians, drafters, surveyors, contractors, inspectors, public agency officials, and clients
  • Develop civil engineering plans using AutoDesk Civil3D, MicroStation, OpenRoads and GIS while applying knowledge of local, state, and federal design standards
  • Perform field investigations to collect data, field measurements, photographs, sketches, and verify surveys as needed
  • Provide office and site visit support for projects in construction
  • Lead tasks, plan budgets, manage subcontractors
