About The Position

The State Highway Administration's (SHA) District 3 (Prince Georges County) is currently recruiting for a Project Engineer (Transportation Engineer III) position. This position is open to anyone who meets the minimum and selective qualifications listed below. This is a position specific recruitment. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a project manager with the responsibility of supervisory duties within the District 3 Maintenance Office. This position will require project management of various contracts with varying levels of complexity within Montgomery and Prince George’s counties. This position tracks and monitors all on-going contractor tasks being performed in the district and reports on a regular basis the status of all projects impacting District 3 Maintenance. This position shall also be responsible for providing initial approval of contractor invoices. This position will also be responsible for assisting with the management of Customer Care Management System (CCMS) issues dealing with maintenance operations. District Maintenance contracts are administered, and maintenance goals are accomplished by subordinate maintenance inspectors and construction inspectors performing under the supervision and direction of this position. This position works independently to advise and assist Assistant District Engineers, District Operations Engineers, Resident and Assistant Resident Maintenance Engineers, Highway Tech Managers, and consultants. This position provides support and technical assistance to inspection staff when needed.

Requirements

  • Possession of a bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Two (2) years of experience in professional engineering.
  • One (1) year of the required experience must have involved maintenance, construction, utility, traffic and/or bridge inspection, contract management.
  • Possession of a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
