About The Position

AECOM is seeking a Project Engineer, Traction Power and Medium Voltage, for an on-site role based in Sacramento, Fresno, or Bakersfield, California. The position provides engineering leadership for traction power, medium voltage distribution, and auxiliary power systems on a major transportation infrastructure project. Systems include 25kV AC traction power, traction power substations, switching and paralleling stations, utility interconnections, SCADA, protective relays, transformers, high- and medium-voltage switchgear, grounding and bonding, traction return, auxiliary power, wayside distribution, emergency and standby power, UPS systems, and electrical metering and monitoring. The role leads technical reviews and multidisciplinary coordination across design, procurement, construction, testing and commissioning, energization, and operational handover. It reviews studies, protection schemes, equipment specifications, construction packages, contractor submittals, calculations, and test procedures, and coordinates interfaces with OCS, signaling, communications, stations, maintenance facilities, civil works, track, operations, and maintenance. The position supports utility coordination, permitting and regulatory approvals, field construction, electrical safety, commissioning, and final system acceptance. Travel is approximately 25–50% along the project alignment throughout California’s Central Valley. AECOM states that sponsorship and relocation are provided. Newly hired employees are required to attend in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office. The role is based on-site.
