About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer to support the execution of utility-scale solar construction projects throughout Virginia. This is a field-focused engineering position responsible for supporting project management teams, coordinating with EPC contractors and internal stakeholders, monitoring construction progress, resolving technical issues, and supporting commissioning and project closeout. The position will require 75%+ travel between solar project sites throughout Virginia.

Requirements

  • 5–6+ years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Must have prior experience working as a Solar Field Engineer.
  • Must have prior utility-scale solar construction experience.
  • Strong technical knowledge of: Renewable power generation systems and equipment, Utility-scale solar construction, Complex construction projects, Power distribution and transmission systems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and process information quickly.
  • 4-year Engineering degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program required.

Responsibilities

  • Support the solar project management team with technical and engineering-related project activities.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders including Project Controls, Technical Services, Environmental, Safety, Supply Chain, Operations, and other project teams.
  • Coordinate with external stakeholders, including EPC contractors, permitting agencies, and Owner's Engineers.
  • Participate in project status meetings with EPC contractors.
  • Monitor construction progress and ensure compliance with EPC contracts, technical specifications, and permitting requirements.
  • Participate in site walks and monitor environmental and permit compliance.
  • Manage and track RFI and NCR logs.
  • Support plant commissioning activities and participate in punch-list and turnover walkdowns.
  • Monitor punch-list completion and facilitate communication between construction and operations teams.
  • Review contractor deliverables and provide technical feedback.
  • Prepare weekly project status reports for internal stakeholders.
  • Review EPC deliverables, including specifications, performance test reports, and as-built drawings, for completeness and contract compliance.
  • Review environmental and third-party reports and provide recommendations to EPC contractors.
  • Manage turnover documentation at key project milestones.
  • Review and provide technical input on change orders, contractor notices, milestone completion documentation, certificates, and other commercial documents.
  • Collaborate with other Project Engineers to maintain consistency across projects.
  • Perform other project-related duties as assigned.
