About The Position

BEI Construction is seeking a Project Engineer to support our Low Voltage division. This role partners with Project Managers and field teams to help coordinate project schedules, documentation, procurement, cost tracking, and client communication. The position is based in Alameda, CA and reports to a General Manager, with periodic travel to jobsites throughout the Bay Area.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of construction-related experience is required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, required.
  • Valid California driver’s license and motor vehicle record that meets BEI driving standards required.
  • Strong organization, attention to detail, problem-solving, and written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
  • Experience with scheduling, procurement, billing, subcontractor coordination, project documentation, RFIs, and change orders preferred.
  • Experience with project management or collaboration tools such as Smartsheet, Fieldwire, or similar systems preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day project coordination, including schedules, task tracking, project meetings, and follow-up items.
  • Coordinate material and equipment ordering, vendor communication, subcontractor coordination, and related project logistics.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including contracts, subcontracts, correspondence, RFIs, records, and internal system updates.
  • Assist with project billing, purchase orders, budget tracking, commitments, expenditures, and other cost-control activities.
  • Attend client, customer, and project meetings; document key decisions, action items, and follow-up communications.
  • Support Project Managers and field leadership with jobsite coordination, site documentation, reporting, and project status updates.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to improve project processes, maintain visibility, and support project profitability.
  • Travel to jobsites as needed and perform other duties as assigned.
