About The Position

Akima Infrastructure Services, LLC (AIS) is seeking Project Engineers to join their staff augmentation team supporting the Department of Energy at the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, and the Pantex Plant in Amarillo, Texas. Successful candidates will be employees of AIS, a government contractor focused on supporting Y-12's mission of ensuring a safe, secure, and reliable U.S. nuclear deterrent. While employed by AIS, employees will take day-to-day direction from Y-12 staff. AIS provides pay, benefits, Human Resources, and Employment Management. Applicants must be US citizens, at least 18 years old, and able to meet pre-employment requirements including physicals, drug screens, and background investigations for Department of Energy clearance.

Requirements

  • BA/BS Degree from an ABET accredited school in a technical discipline, plus 10 years or more of direct experience, OR an MA or MS with 10 plus years of experience.
  • Must be a US citizen.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Able to meet pre-employment requirements including any required physicals, drug screen, and/or background investigation to satisfy clearance requirements from the Department of Energy.
  • Post-offer, pre-employment drug test.
  • Job related pre-placement medical examinations may be required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a clearance from the Department of Energy.
  • Participation in an ongoing random drug testing program may be required if identified as a Workplace Substance Abuse (WSAP) testing designated position.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Project Engineering support and coordination for various projects including Commercial, Infrastructure, Production Modernization, and/or Production Stockpile projects.
  • Provide Project Engineering support for the planning, design, and implementation of new machine tools and/or infrastructure upgrades.
  • Provide technical integration, leadership, guidance, and direction to multi-disciplined engineering teams for high-profile plant initiatives.
  • Apply ASME Nuclear Quality Assurance (NQA-1) requirements for work in nuclear facilities.
  • Plan and direct engineering activities on projects.
  • Establish detailed project design scope, budgets, and schedules.
  • Coordinate engineering efforts with Production, Maintenance, Project Management, Construction, Startup, and Project Controls personnel.
  • Review project engineering progress against approved schedules and take corrective action when required.
  • Coordinate and integrate technical resources, both internal and external to the ME organization, for large expense-funded Production capability initiatives that fall outside the conventional capital projects organization and require near-term attention.
