Project Engineer - Land Development

About The Position

We are seeking a qualified candidate for the role of Project Engineer in Land Development. This position requires a strong foundation in civil engineering principles, project management, and leadership skills. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing various aspects of land development projects, from initial design studies to construction support, while ensuring effective client and public-agency interactions.

Requirements

  • BSCE degree
  • CA Registration as a Professional Civil Engineer (or ability to obtain in the next 6 months)
  • Minimum of eight (8-12) years relevant experience, or the equivalent work experience of twelve (12-15) years in this industry.
  • Demonstrate strong independent thought and decision-making abilities.
  • A minimum of three years management experience supervising the work of technical staff.
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Demonstrate Project management ability.
  • Adept in establishing and maintaining strong and positive working relationships with clients/public-agency personnel and in-house staff.
  • Possess working knowledge of business and management principles associated with strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques, production procedures, interview and hiring methods, and the coordination of people.
  • Experience with AutoCAD/Civil 3D.
  • CAD experience is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of jurisdictional codes, standards, and procedures in the State of CA and the region is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform conceptual and preliminary engineering design studies, incorporating land use and zoning considerations, assessment and consideration of site constraints, infrastructure requirements, and potential regulatory issues.
  • Prepare and process regulatory plans.
  • Prepare and process public improvement plans (private and public).
  • Perform constructability reviews.
  • Provide a range of construction support services.
  • Manage construction documents and contracts.
  • Manage construction support and field coordination.
  • Manage project schedules and budgets.
  • Prepare contracts, fee proposals, and scopes of work.
  • Interact with clients and public agencies.
  • Supervise the work of technical staff.
  • Apply engineering principles, techniques, and procedures for Civil Engineering design.
  • Carry out responsibility for the design team's direction, control, and planning; set realistic goals and make decisions independently.
  • Negotiate effectively.
  • Communicate effectively in written and oral forms.
  • Utilize CAD and its capabilities for preparing exhibits, studies, and/or final plans.
