About The Position

The Project Engineer Intern supports the engineering and project management team in the execution of Building Management System (BMS) and HVAC controls projects. This role provides hands-on exposure to system design, field coordination, documentation, and project delivery within a fast-paced construction and controls environment.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • Basic understanding of HVAC systems and/or building automation systems preferred
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Strong willingness to learn and take direction
  • Effective time management, organization, and multitasking skills
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to verify and follow through on project information
  • Comfortable working in both office and construction site environments
  • Ability to support multiple projects with varying schedules and priorities
  • Valid California Driver’s License with a clean record

Nice To Haves

  • Building Management Systems (e.g., ALC or similar platforms)
  • Controls wiring diagrams and sequences of operation
  • Construction project workflows (submittals, RFIs, change orders)

Responsibilities

  • Support Project Engineers and Project Managers with day-to-day execution activities
  • Assist in the development and review of BMS submittals, drawings, and technical documentation
  • Review plans, specifications, and sequences of operation to understand system intent
  • Track project deliverables, procurement status, and material deliveries
  • Assist in developing and maintaining bill of materials (BOM) and equipment schedules
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams
  • Support field activities including site walks, device verification, and redline markups
  • Organize and maintain project documentation (RFIs, submittals, O&M manuals)
  • Maintain compliance with company standards, project requirements, and industry best practices
