What you will be doing in the role of Project Engineer, Intermediate The Project Engineering position is responsible for working with customers and reviewing customer documentation such as P&IDs and process narratives to define control system hardware & software requirements; design and document control system hardware, control network, and fieldbus networks; program and test control strategies and HMI graphics; start-up and commissioning on-site; post-start-up support for customers. Must be able to independently perform these tasks for small projects and provide technical direction and leadership to a project team for larger projects.

Requirements

  • University Undergraduate Degree in Engineering or Technologist Diploma in an Engineering discipline
  • 5+ years’ experience in an engineering related role
  • Knowledge of Foxboro, ABB, Allen Bradley or similar automation systems
  • Exposure to the process industry including Chemical and Specialty Chemicals, Mining, Pulp and Paper, Refining, Power, Cogeneration (Power and Steam Production), Pharma and Biotech, and Food and Beverage.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Project
  • Knowledge of process control and instrumentation
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Effective interpersonal and collaboration skills
  • Training and presentation skills
  • Ability to create clear, accurate documentation and SOPs

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Emerson PROVOX, RS3, or DeltaV; Foundation Fieldbus or other fieldbus technologies an asset

Responsibilities

  • Interpret customer requirements and represent their needs throughout project execution.
  • Collaborate with project managers and engineers to define scope and develop technical solutions.
  • Develop Control System hardware and software design specifications
  • Support DCS or PLC code and graphics development
  • Independently support factory acceptance testing, commissioning, startup, and other key project activities.
  • Review and ensure the quality of engineering work and documentation.
  • Execute complex technical work within specific expertise areas (e.g., Batch, SIS, Simulation).
  • Contribute to the development of engineering processes and procedures
  • Collaborate with sales for hardware/services estimation on larger pursuits
