About The Position

Development Operations (DO) Instrumentation Design Engineering is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Project Engineer. The Instrumentation Project Engineer is responsible for leading the design and fabrication of instrumentation hardware, that provides critical measurements for both military and commercial engines. The designs include major station probes, blade tip clearance probes, optical blade tip timing probes, slip rings, fan blade out packages & telemetry packages. Our hardware is used to collect data during the testing of every engine in the Pratt and Whitney portfolio. Development of Basis of Estimates (BOE) for commercial and government proposals. Provide project management to the Integrated Product Team (IPT). Manage program/task budgets, schedules, and procurement of the designed instrumentation hardware. Performs risks assessments and develop mitigation plan as needed. The position requires excellent communication and team leadership skills as well as the ability to operate across a wide range of disciplines and management levels with both internal and external customers to ensure that task requirements are met. Travel is up to 10%.

Requirements

  • Bachelors in STEM
  • 5 years of project engineering or mechanical engineering experience or Advanced degree with 3 years project engineering or mechanical engineering experience
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required
  • U.S. citizenship is required

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge and experience with Project Management toolsets (e.g., Agile, SAP, Primavera, or MS Project)
  • Demonstrated experience leading engineering teams, budgets, and schedules
  • Ability to solve technical problems with minimal direction
  • Understanding of standard manufacturing methods
  • Ability to interface effectively with both internal and external customers
  • Active Security Clearance
