About The Position

Parsons is seeking an experienced Project Engineer with a desire to work on creating innovative, practical solutions to various industrial projects. The role involves significant involvement in project designs throughout the entire project lifecycle, from concept (pre-FEED) through commissioning and startup. The selected candidate will manage multi-discipline teams in feasibility, FEED, detailed engineering, procurement support, and construction phases of capital projects. This position requires comprehensive knowledge of industry standards and a proven ability to perform in a management capacity with excellent communication skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical/business field
  • 8+ years of relevant work experience
  • Experience in working on various manufacturing capital projects
  • Broad general technical and business background
  • Ability to manage projects, interface with clients, and be hands-on technically in the project

Responsibilities

  • Performs project management responsibilities on industrial EPCm Capital Projects ($1M to $400M projects).
  • Communicates effectively, orally and in writing, to project teams and clients. Prepares correspondence, written reports, presentations, and proposals.
  • Identifies gaps in engineering deliverables associated with Stage and Gate process/Front End Loading funding concepts for industrial projects and works with customers and internal teams to resolve them.
  • Integrates competing and/or conflicting elements into planning and execution processes to ensure smooth project requirements flow.
  • Has oversight of a specific area and establishes a course of action within company practices and guidelines.
  • Oversees project controls and other project service functions on mid to large TIC projects.
  • Develops a complete understanding of the contract and relevant subcontracts to provide full support to the project management team for larger projects.
  • Acts as the Company representative with the client and selected subcontractors during program execution.
  • Negotiates changes to the scope of work with the client and key subcontractors.
  • Markets and secures additional work with clients.
  • Verifies with the Project Director (PD) that project requirements for Baseline Centric Execution, safety, quality, cost, and productivity are met.
  • Drafts the project baseline for Project Director (PD) approval and verifies its documentation, updates, and communication to the project team.
  • Supports the PD in delivering the project in accordance with the project execution and commercial baselines.
  • Participates in sales and marketing efforts as requested.
  • Establishes program requirements for all project areas and monitors draft and final deliverables for adherence.
  • Responsible for the development and distribution of a one to two-page project description to all project team members.
  • Works with other managers, project engineers, and discipline leads to develop budgets, schedules, and plans.
  • Ensures projects meet or exceed established goals.
  • Works with key project individuals to devise and execute action plans to rectify potential cost overruns or delays, or to accommodate scope changes, advising the client and company management of any such changes.
  • Is specifically responsible for maintaining current and timely change orders.
  • Promotes technical and commercial excellence through Quality Assurance processes.
  • Monitors and reports project progress, milestones, and any conditions affecting cost or schedule to management.
  • Establishes weekly meetings to review project status and formulate action items.
