About The Position

This position provides technical and administrative support for the Program Management Office (PMO) Construction Department and the District Facilities, Planning, and Development (FPD) department, exclusively on Bond-funded projects. The role involves tracking and following up on RFIs and submittals, performing internal reviews of Change Orders (CO), Field Orders (FO), and other contractual documents, and coordinating with PMO staff and District FPD on the review and processing of Change Orders for all active construction projects. The Project Engineer III will also perform detailed reviews of Change Order documents for completeness and accuracy, participate in coordination meetings, and maintain Change Order logs and other tracking documents. Responsibilities include reading and interpreting construction plans, assisting in preparing reports, collecting and reviewing lessons learned, monitoring changes and revisions, submitting COs and FOs for approval, reviewing and following Standard Operating Procedures for CO processing, facilitating conflict resolution, assisting in coordination meetings with stakeholders, generating and distributing meeting minutes, and maintaining electronic files and records. The role also includes maintaining a log of daily tasks and performing other job-related administrative duties as directed.

Requirements

  • Minimum of seven (7) years of professional experience in a similar role or position in construction
  • BS/BA degree in construction, engineering, or architecture. Four (4) years of additional qualifying experience in excess of the minimum years stated above may be substituted for the required education.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and SharePoint
  • Experience using Bluebeam and Adobe software for document reviews/mark-ups
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to take initiative and make sound decisions
  • Ability to effectively manage daily work effort
  • Good verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Track and follow up on RFIs and submittals with the owner, design team, and construction team as required during the design, pre-bid, and construction phases.
  • Perform internal reviews of Change Orders (CO), Field Orders (FO), and other contractual documents for Districtwide design/construction projects.
  • Coordinate with PMO staff and District FPD on the review and processing of Change Orders for all active construction projects.
  • Perform detailed review of Change Order documents for completeness and accuracy.
  • Participate in coordination meetings to facilitate timely reviews.
  • Maintain Change Order logs and other tracking documents for PMO and LACCD FPD use and reference.
  • Read and interpret construction plans and drawings.
  • Assist in preparing weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports for management review.
  • Collect, track, and review lessons learned, and submit them for closeout and management review.
  • Monitor changes and revisions to ensure timely processing of Change Orders and Field Orders.
  • Submit COs and FOs for final PMO and District approval.
  • Review and follow Standard Operating Procedures for CO processing.
  • Facilitate resolution of conflicts and issues to maintain timely workflow.
  • Assist in coordination meetings with the District Office and stakeholders.
  • Generate and distribute meeting minutes to confirm discussions.
  • Maintain electronic files and records for all reviews.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Maintain a log of daily tasks and submit it monthly to management for review.
  • Perform other relatively similar administrative duties as directed by the PMO and District FPD.
