About The Position

The Project Engineer 3 leads engineering coordination and project execution activities for fabrication, procurement, and equipment renovation efforts supporting mission-critical programs. This role acts as a key engineering point of contact, managing scope, coordinating with vendors and internal teams, and ensuring successful execution across project phases. Working with a high degree of independence, the Project Engineer 3 supports complex projects and contributes to mission objectives through technical leadership and effective project management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, chemical, or related field) and 6–8 years of related experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Experience managing or leading engineering or construction-related projects
  • Strong understanding of project management principles, including scope, schedule, and coordination
  • Experience working with vendors and multidisciplinary technical teams
  • Proficiency with standard business software (e.g., Microsoft Office, Teams)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and resolve complex problems effectively

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in nuclear, glovebox, or regulated facility environments
  • Mechanical and/or HVAC systems experience
  • Experience supporting projects from design through execution (“cradle to grave”)
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers or leading project tasks
  • Familiarity with fabrication, procurement, and construction support activities

Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering and project execution activities related to fabrication, procurement, and equipment renovation
  • Manage project scope, schedules, and deliverables to support mission requirements
  • Coordinate with procurement engineers, vendors, and multidisciplinary teams to drive project success
  • Provide engineering support for construction and fabrication efforts, ensuring alignment with design intent
  • Identify and resolve project risks, issues, and technical challenges
  • Track project performance and provide updates to stakeholders and leadership
  • Facilitate collaboration across project teams, vendors, and subject matter experts
  • Support multiple phases of complex projects, including ongoing mission expansion efforts
