About The Position

The Project Engineer II (Mechanical) is responsible for owning and executing mechanical design work packages for automation and material handling system integration projects. This includes the design and release of mechanical assemblies, layouts, and documentation that align with system requirements, manufacturability, and customer specifications. The role involves collaboration with internal teams and suppliers, on-site validation, and contributing to successful project delivery. This position may also provide technical guidance to junior engineers.

Requirements

  • Obtained a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field
  • 2–5 years of mechanical design experience in automation, capital equipment, or material handling
  • Proven ability to deliver mechanical designs that integrate into complex systems on time and to scope
  • Proficient in 3D CAD modeling and mechanical documentation (e.g., Inventor, AutoCAD, SolidWorks)
  • Comfortable working on-site to validate and integrate designs in live system environments
  • Knowledge of materials, fabrication methods, and GD&T
  • Ability to independently execute mechanical design tasks within multi-disciplinary projects
  • Strong communication skills for cross-functional and customer-facing collaboration
  • Currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and release of mechanical assemblies, layouts, and BOMs within larger system projects
  • Ensure mechanical designs align with system-level requirements, manufacturability, and cost targets
  • Perform calculations, tolerance analysis, and design reviews to guarantee reliability of equipment
  • Collaborate with controls, electrical, and software teams to align system integration
  • Support FAT, SAT, and commissioning through hands-on troubleshooting and validation
  • Interface with suppliers, offshore teams, and manufacturing to ensure designs are built and installed successfully
  • Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and feedback on future system designs
  • Travel up 30% to support customer integration projects
