About The Position

The Project Engineer 2 supports engineering and project execution activities for fabrication, procurement, and equipment renovation efforts supporting mission-critical programs. This role assists in managing project scope, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and supporting engineering functions throughout project phases. Working under general supervision, the Project Engineer 2 contributes to project delivery by supporting technical execution, vendor coordination, and construction-related activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, chemical, or related field) and 3–5 years of related experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Experience supporting engineering or construction projects, including coordination with vendors or project teams
  • Basic understanding of project management principles, including scope, schedule, and execution
  • Proficiency with standard business software (e.g., Microsoft Office, Teams)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work through problems effectively with guidance

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in nuclear, glovebox, or regulated facility environments
  • Mechanical or HVAC systems experience
  • Experience supporting fabrication, procurement, or construction-related projects
  • Familiarity with multidisciplinary engineering teams and project coordination
  • Willingness to learn and grow into increased project responsibility

Responsibilities

  • Support engineering and project activities related to fabrication, procurement, and equipment renovation
  • Assist in managing project scope, schedules, and deliverables in alignment with mission objectives
  • Coordinate with procurement engineers, vendors, and internal teams to support project execution
  • Provide support for construction and fabrication activities, including equipment and system upgrades
  • Participate in project meetings and contribute to technical discussions and problem-solving efforts
  • Assist in tracking project progress and identifying potential risks or issues
  • Support documentation development, reporting, and project coordination activities
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to support project milestones
