Requirements

A bachelor’s or master's degree in civil engineering or a closely related degree with coursework in transportation/traffic

Nice To Haves

EIT certification
Experience with Bentley OpenRoads Designer and/or AutoDesk Civil 3D
Familiarity with VDOT standards and procedures

Responsibilities

Design horizontal alignments and vertical profiles for roadway widening and improvement projects
Develop 3D models and plans using AutoDesk Civil 3D and/or Bentley OpenRoads Designer
Create visualizations for client and public presentations using 3D software
Prepare detailed plan sheets and complete project submission packages
Perform roadway and drainage calculations using engineering software and reference materials
Assist in preparing engineering and construction cost estimates
Research and utilize open-source GIS data for project planning
Conduct field observations and data collection to support design discussions
Stay current with emerging technologies to enhance team capabilities
Participate in client and contractor meetings to support project delivery
