About The Position

French & Parrello Associates (FPA) is seeking a Project Engineer for our Highway/Traffic department in Boston, MA. This role involves preparing and overseeing roadway and highway design plans, specifications, and cost estimates. The engineer will perform geometric design, grading, drainage coordination, and maintenance of traffic plans. They will also coordinate with internal disciplines, manage project schedules and budgets, and serve as a technical resource for junior staff. Additionally, the position requires attending client meetings, coordinating with public agencies, ensuring compliance with design standards, and supporting business development efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
  • 4-8 years of progressive highway/roadway design experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Massachusetts
  • Experience working on county and/or municipal projects, including those that are state or federally funded
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Strong knowledge of AASHTO and MassDOT roadway design standards
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with internal disciplines including civil/site, traffic, structural, environmental, and utility teams
  • Assist in managing project schedules, budgets, and deliverables
  • Serve as a technical resource for junior engineers and designers
  • Attend client meetings and coordinate with public agencies including state agencies, counties, and municipalities
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal design standards and procedures
  • Support proposal preparation and business development efforts as needed
