About The Position

Intertek is searching for a Project Engineer, General Safety to join their Electrical team. This role involves facilitating international trade and regulatory product testing. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • 2 + years’ relatable experience
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, multi-tasking environment with shifting priorities and demanding deadlines
  • Must be detailed-oriented and able to effectively prioritize and organize workload, with efficient time management
  • Must possess the fundamental technical and administrative skills required to perform the job duties
  • Ability to make technical decisions and engineering judgments independently within established parameters

Responsibilities

  • Providing engineering expertise to evaluate conformance of inverters, wind turbines, generators, solar panels and other power generation equipment to industry standards.
  • Creating evaluation reports and test plans.
  • Conducting and/or witnessing testing.
  • Resolving technical and/or administrative issues.
  • Reading and determining applicability of national codes and standards clauses for the EUT (equipment under test).
  • Reading and understanding schematics and manufacturing instructions.
  • Validating the project scope and sample applicability.
  • Identifying and locating test instruments and equipment required for testing under the scope of the project.
  • Setting up and operating standard test equipment including, but not limited to spectrum analyzer, oscilloscope, multi-meter, dielectric strength tester, ground continuity tester, digital multi-meter, surge generator, over-voltage tester, environmental condition chamber, and articulated probes.
  • Using hand tools to build/calibrate test fixtures.
  • Following sample handling procedures, ensuring that sample is logged in and out of the system.
  • Moving equipment as needed through the facility.
  • Properly packaging sample for shipment.
  • Conducting thorough construction review and documenting results.
  • Performing testing of products in accordance with standards. Core tests include, but are not limited to: rating, leakage current, dielectric, temperature, pressure, stability, mechanical hazard, flammability, abnormal and fault insurance, rain, radiation, sound, and laser.
  • Supplying information for quotes such as length of project, site needed, rental equipment, samples, and standards that will be used.
  • Providing sales support such as attending client visits.
  • Communicating project status and test results to client, sales personnel, and management throughout testing.
  • Providing on-going support to clients as needed.
  • Providing more specialized "expertise" in one product category, i.e., becoming reviewer, resident expert, or obtaining and maintaining advanced product knowledge.
  • Mentoring less senior technical personnel.
  • Performing other work as required.
