About The Position

Intertek is seeking a Project Engineer-Electrical Safety to join their Electrical team in Duluth, Georgia. This role focuses on medical device testing and certification, leveraging Intertek's extensive expertise in product testing to help clients meet safety, performance, environmental, and quality requirements across various markets. Intertek operates as a Total Quality Assurance Provider, aiming to bring quality, safety, and sustainability to life. The Project Engineer will independently conduct testing and evaluation of products against U.S., Canadian, and international safety standards, write reports, and communicate with clients. The position involves potential for 15% travel.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in engineering
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in directly related field
Experience with IEC/UL/CSA safety certification standards

Experience with U.S., Canadian, and other international product safety standards i.e., ANSI, CSA, UL, EN, IEC

Responsibilities

Independently perform testing and evaluation on a variety of products to the provisions of U.S., Canadian and other international product safety standards.
Write reports.
Communicate with clients.
Read and determine applicability of national codes and standards clauses for the EUT (equipment under test).
Perform testing of products in accordance with standards, including rating, leakage current, dielectric, temperature, pressure, stability, mechanical hazard, flammability, abnormal and fault insurance, and rain tests.
Supply information for quotes such as length of project, site needed, rental equipment, samples, and standards that will be used.
Set up and operate standard test equipment including spectrum analyzer, oscilloscope, multi-meter, dielectric strength tester, ground continuity tester, digital multi-meter, surge generator, over-voltage tester, environmental condition chamber, and articulated probes.
Use hand tools to build/calibrate test fixtures.
Follow sample handling procedures, ensuring that sample is logged in and out of the system.
Move equipment as needed through the facility.
Properly package sample for shipment.
Provide sales support such as attending client visits.
Communicate project status and test results to client, sales personnel, and management throughout testing.
Provide on-going support to clients as needed.
Perform other duties as required.
