About The Position

We currently have a new opportunity for a Stormwater Modeler to join our Tampa Civil Engineering team. Our highly respected team of design professionals complemented by an exceptional staff of full-service surveying, offer effective and sustainable solutions for our clients’ land planning, permitting, stormwater, development and land management needs. This position will focus on stormwater modeling and design, supporting the development of models used for FEMA Letter of Map Revisions (LOMRs) as well as modeling for a variety of public and private civil / site development projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's of Science in Civil or Water Resources Engineering
  • FL PE or ability to acquire FL PE within 18 months.
  • Demonstrated experience with hydraulic modeling software, such as: HEC-RAS, SWMM, and StormWise
  • Experience and familiarity with the FEMA Letter of Map Revision (LOMR) process.
  • Stormwater management experience should include design of wet detention ponds, infiltration systems, pipe drainage systems, and familiarity with the Environmental Resource Permitting.
  • Experience in land development projects, specifically grading, erosion control, and stormwater management.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively on multiple concurrent assignments.
  • Proven record of technical competency, willingness to work as a team player and good communications skills.
  • Requires a valid driver's license and an acceptable motor vehicle and criminal record.

Nice To Haves

  • ASFPM Certified Floodplain Manager a plus.
  • Working proficiency with ESRI ArcGIS tools and geospatial datasets is preferred
  • AutoCAD Civil 3D experience is preferred
  • Strong data analysis skills (advanced Excel; experience with Python/R and/or SQL) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical and design services in support of land (site) development and capital improvement projects.
  • Supports development of hydraulic and hydrologic models used for FEMA Letter of Map Revisions (LOMRs).
  • Supports stormwater modeling for land development and private land development projects.
  • Reports directly to Project Manager and Operations Manager.
  • Responsibilities sometimes includes: conduct preliminary/due diligence evaluations, prepare various reports, produce design and construction drawings, prepare technical specifications, and prepare permit submittals for civil engineering projects.
  • Must be able to work as part of a project team, manage project tasks and provide direction to team members.
  • Responsible for various tasks on several concurrent projects and must be able to follow these tasks through to completion within the allocated period of time and the monetary budget assigned.
