About The Position

French & Parrello Associates (FPA) is seeking a Project Engineer for our Civil/Site department in Hackettstown, NJ. This role involves overseeing the design and development of civil/site engineering plans, performing engineering calculations, preparing construction documents, and coordinating with various stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of New Jersey land development regulations and experience in a multidisciplinary consulting environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of New Jersey required
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in civil/site engineering and land development design
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D required
  • Strong understanding of New Jersey land development regulations, permitting processes, and agency requirements
  • Experience preparing site plans, grading plans, utility plans, and stormwater management reports
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities with the capacity to manage multiple assignments simultaneously

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a multidisciplinary consulting engineering environment preferred
  • Familiarity with municipal, commercial, residential, industrial, and institutional land development projects

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and oversee the design and development of civil/site engineering plans, including grading, drainage, stormwater management, utility infrastructure, roadway improvements, and erosion and sediment control measures
  • Perform and review engineering calculations related to site design, stormwater management, hydrology, hydraulics, and utility systems
  • Prepare construction documents, technical specifications, engineering reports, and permit applications
  • Coordinate project design efforts with project managers, clients, architects, municipalities, and other engineering disciplines
  • Review and interpret survey data, environmental constraints, zoning ordinances, and land development regulations
  • Support and participate in meetings with clients, municipal agencies, planning boards, and regulatory authorities
  • Assist with project scheduling, budgeting, and resource coordination
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and design staff
  • Conduct site visits and construction observations to evaluate project progress and address field conditions
  • Ensure project designs comply with applicable local, state, and federal regulations, permitting requirements, and engineering standards
  • Assist in preparing responses to agency review comments and securing project approvals
