About The Position

AWS Infrastructure Services is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure, ensuring the cloud runs smoothly. This role supports all AWS data centers and the associated equipment, tackling complex challenges within the supply chain. The position is part of a diverse team of engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers. Collaboration across AWS is key to maintaining high standards of safety and security while delivering scalable and cost-effective solutions for customers. The Data Center Project Engineer will contribute to constructing Amazon Data Centers, focusing on energy-efficient and cost-effective designs. This role involves working closely with partner teams such as Operations, Networking, Controls, Security, and Commissioning. The Project Engineer will support teams building electrical and mechanical systems, working on-site daily with construction managers and stakeholders to ensure fast, high-quality data center construction. Responsibilities include owning communication and coordination with vendors, managing information workflow, and handling document management, including RFIs, change orders, reports, and schedule updates. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent
  • 3+ years of construction or project management experience
  • 2+ years of vendor management experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Experience creating process documentation
  • Experience in construction, or experience reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a data center or other critical environment
  • Experience managing large-scale projects from end to end
  • OSHA 30 certification or equivalent safety training
  • Experience with Procore, PlanGrid, or equivalent construction project management software
  • Experience with OFCI or owner-furnished equipment coordination and delivery tracking
  • Experience reading and interpreting construction schedules (P6/Primavera or equivalent)

Responsibilities

  • Establishing communication and coordination across a data center region’s general contractors, stakeholders, and internal teams (e.g., sending out region-wide changes to construction trailer setup, or location to access documents).
  • Developing and maintaining a tracking system for design changes, RFIs (requests for information), and change orders, including dashboards for regional leadership review, tracking priority and due dates.
  • Requesting and reviewing MOPs (Method of Procedure) for proper detail, necessity, and risk.
  • On-boarding new vendors for badging and orientation.
  • Updating project management software with milestone dates, correspondence, and documents.
  • Monitoring the delivery of owner-furnished material to the site.
  • Compiling and storing construction data from vendors.
  • Managing checklists, including substantial completion checks, safety, and quality.
