About The Position

The BAE Systems SMS Cryogenic team is seeking an Associate Project Engineer for Cryogenic Systems. In this role, you will be accountable for managing and delivering a defined and agreed upon scope of work that meets requirements and cost/schedule commitments. The Engineering, Science and Analysis (ESA) Strategic Capabilities Unit comprises the technical talent and organizational leadership that enables the successful delivery of high-impact discriminating technologies for our customers’ missions. Requirements

BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 4 or more years related experience.
Working knowledge of thermal, subcontract management, and specifications.
Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite, MS Project, DOORS.
Experience using CAD software (such as: SolidWorks)
Experience in spacecraft and/or precision aerospace electro-mechanical, and/or opto-mechanical flight hardware systems.
Experience with cryo systems, cryocoolers, cryo-radiators, components and/or ground support equipment cryogenic/thermal design.
Demonstrated excellent communication skills and leadership skills.
Demonstrated ability to manage difficult conversations on topics such as: decisions, impacts to schedule, impacts to technical performance, and impacts to cost.
Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
The applicant must be willing and eligible for submission, depending on program requirements, after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access.

Responsibilities

Represent the team in technical discussions, and able to guide the technical decisions and make risk-based decisions.
Generate time-phased staffing and material estimates for assigned area of responsibility and manage to an agreed upon staffing.
Manage low risk subcontracts.
Learn and coordinate what is needed from other engineering disciplines.
Learn how to effectively use BAE SMS standard processes and tools and adjust and adapt to program specific tools.
Demonstrate commitment to job responsibilities, organizational goals, co-workers, and what's best for SMS; can be counted on to take initiative, show persistence, and display a sense of urgency to achieve goals.
Organize tasks and data effectively, accurately scope out the length and difficulty of tasks, and prioritize and re-plan as needed to respond to changes; may also so set team priorities.

Perform control account manager duties.
