About The Position

Arcadis is seeking a Project Director to join our Rail and Transit business in Canada. You will be responsible for managing the delivery of projects to meet time, quality, budgetary and health and safety targets. All aspects of the client relationship so that delivery meets or exceeds client expectations. Take a leadership role with the project team, providing both direction and technical advice and leading by example where appropriate, while promoting both the regional and global culture of the business.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s University Degree in Engineering (or equivalent) from an accredited university
  • 15+ years of progressive Project Management experience
  • 10 + years in a Transportation/Transit related discipline

Nice To Haves

  • P.Eng. (Eligible for Membership with PEO) preferred
  • Postgraduate qualifications in business, finance, or project management related areas an advantage
  • Experience in leading design in a consultant organization
  • Sound commercial background, including familiarity with contractual conditions and procedures, including international conditions and ability to take commercial responsibility for a project
  • Experienced in leading, and working with, people from varied backgrounds and cultures
  • Knowledge if the transit, transportation, urban planning sector

Responsibilities

  • Manage the delivery of projects to meet time, quality, budgetary and health and safety targets.
  • Manage all aspects of the client relationship so that delivery meets or exceeds client expectations.
  • Take a leadership role with the project team, providing both direction and technical advice and leading by example where appropriate, while promoting both the regional and global culture of the business.
  • Provide sound and effective leadership to the team, providing direction and technical advice, leading by example to achieve company goals and championing a quality culture.
  • Communicate with team members to ensure that they understand, and become engaged with, the project strategy, brief and client requirements.
  • Develop and manage the Project Program and obtaining the buy-in of all stakeholders while ensuring that effective financial and project management controls are in place and deployed to enable monitoring, modification and forecasting as appropriate.
  • Continually look to enhance productivity through improved processes, procedures and systems while maintaining an overview of the commercial aspects of the project (contract, invoicing, debt, client management).
  • Communicate effectively with all stakeholders to ensure that all parties are kept informed on all relevant matters impacting and influencing projects.
  • Manage the acquisition, deployment and management of resources for the project to ensure optimal resource allocation for the project.
  • Direct the assessment, selection and management of suppliers, sub-consultants and contractors associated with projects.
  • Complete ownership of project performance, service delivery and technical and commercial outcomes and undertaking reviews, ensuring client delivery is above expectation.
  • Oversee design projects from conception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Work closely with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies to ensure project requirements are met and expectations are exceeded.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the design team, including architects, engineers, and technicians.
  • Manage design resources, including software, tools, and materials, to optimize performance and cost-effectiveness.
  • Ensure all design work meets the highest standards of quality and safety, conducting regular reviews and audits, as necessary.
