About The Position

SLB New Energy & Industrial (NEI) is a division of SLB, focusing on ventures in carbon capture and sequestration, geothermal power, energy storage, sustainable battery-grade lithium, hydrogen, and Data center infrastructure solutions. Our Data Center infrastructure solutions business provides innovative and cost-effective solutions for building faster, smarter, and more resilient data centers. These modular infrastructure solutions scale AI and cloud computing capacity while minimizing capital risk and deployment delays. We help reduce costs, improve lead times, and lower construction risk by standardizing components and relocating labor to controlled offsite environments, ensuring quality and global repeatability. SLB is seeking a highly qualified and motivated Project Director to lead the delivery of a Data Center project location consisting of multiple buildings and associated infrastructures. The role ensures the delivery of the assigned Data Center location safely, on schedule, and within approved budget, with high performance consistency across all buildings. It involves effective coordination between construction, project controls, supply chain, and technical teams, leadership and governance for Project Managers and the broader site organization, and client representatives and key contractors’ satisfaction at the site level. This position requires regular travel to Houston, TX during the pre-construction phase (first 12 to 18 months), and onsite in Edmonton, AB during the construction & commissioning phases. Relocation support is available for qualified candidates within Canada.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline is required.
  • 20+ years of experience managing large-scale construction or industrial projects.
  • Proven experience delivering complex projects with multiple contractors and overlapping scopes.
  • Strong background in cost control, scheduling, contract management, and site leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multiple project teams simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Candidates must be able to legally work and reside in Canada, without sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience delivering large-scale Data Center or mission-critical facilities is highly preferred.
  • PMP certification or equivalent project management credential are preferred.
  • OSHA 30 certification or equivalent safety training is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the full execution of the assigned project location, overseeing multiple Data Center buildings and associated infrastructure.
  • Manage and support Project Managers responsible for individual buildings, ensuring alignment with site objectives and execution standards.
  • Monitor site-level performance across cost, schedule, quality, safety, and technical coordination.
  • Ensure effective coordination between contractors, suppliers, and internal teams operating across the site.
  • Review and approve key project deliverables including schedules, forecasts, recovery plans, and major change requests.
  • Resolve site-level issues and risks that could impact delivery across multiple buildings.
  • Maintain close coordination with the Program Manager to ensure alignment with portfolio objectives and client commitments.
  • Lead client engagement at the site level, ensuring transparency, communication, and delivery confidence.
