About The Position

The Project Designer is responsible to assist Architects, Sales, Estimating, Project Management and Field Operations in leading the conceptual development of projects; engage directly with clients to understand requirements, present design concepts, and incorporate feedback; develop and communicate the overall design vision; and support project teams by translating high-level design work into actionable plans that facilitate execution by project teams. The Project Designer is also responsible for providing direction and communicating design intent to Design Drafters.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Mechanical or Architectural Drafting and Design or related field OR 5 years of related experience preferred
  • Proficient in one or more of the following design software: Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, Autodesk AutoCAD, Autodesk Revit, Bluebeam, and Procore
  • Incorporate updated software techniques and ensure design accuracy and compliance with industry standards
  • Strong understanding of construction methods and materials
  • Be curious and assist the department in moving forward in the technology space to stay competitive in the industry
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with agricultural and commercial/industrial building design is a plus
  • Able to read and interpret construction drawings (plans, elevations, sections, details, etc.)
  • Ability to read and understand architectural & structural construction documents
  • Basic knowledge and ability to follow design codes
  • Able to create drawings and models from written and verbal specifications
  • Fluency in reading 2D and 3D plans, electronically or hard copy
  • Working knowledge of Procore, Bluebeam, MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Strong interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

  • Create detailed architectural and structural drawings, coordinate details and dimensions, and design with awareness of cost implications and construction timelines
  • Develop construction details that comply with the overall design intent and project budget
  • Collaborate with all stakeholders (designers, project managers, engineers, and clients) to develop design concepts and construction documents, guide design execution, and resolve conflicts
  • Prepare approval drawings, revisions, and installation/erection drawings - ensuring design intent is maintained throughout construction documentation and execution
  • Work with clients to translate their needs and project goals into design strategies
  • Integrate design requirements and ensure alignment with project objectives and company standards
  • Participate in design reviews and incorporate design changes efficiently based on feedback from project stakeholders. Clearly communicate impact to all stakeholders.
  • Ensure designs comply with company regulations and quality industry standards
  • Ensure ongoing review and verify documents are accurate and complete
  • Verify submittments and respond to requests for information
  • Support construction projects with Revit & Auto CAD software
  • Collaborate with project personnel to facilitate projects
  • Support non-Revit users with AutoCAD file creation and maintenance from Revit, 2D and 3D files
  • Mentor Design Drafters as assigned, helping them improve technical accuracy and design understanding
