The Project Designer understands and consistently executes all aspects of the design process and project complexities to proactively contribute to the overall success of the team while adhering to firm and project goals and standards of excellence in design, execution, and living design. This role prepares schematic designs that optimize design solutions and plans with responsibility for presentation drawings, models, and narratives. The Project Designer understands overall project goals and constraints, including client values, construction and design budget limitations, and schedule requirements. They evaluate design alternatives based on site and code requirements, and apply knowledge of building technology, building materials, construction methods, costs, and code to the design process. The role requires understanding and responding to technical implications and design decisions. The Project Designer prepares client presentation packages, external publications, and award submissions. They participate in marketing opportunities and develop successful client relationships for continuing business, using graphic storytelling to advance project delivery and scope. This role also reviews work for accuracy, omissions, legibility, and for document compliance in accordance with the Project Delivery Manual. The Project Designer participates and collaborates in internal design reviews, charettes, and pin-ups and external community engagements. They demonstrate strong and effective communication and direction which inspires high team performance and design ideas, and mentors staff. The role requires coordinating effectively with partners and consultants throughout the schematic and design development phases.
