About The Position

HDR’s Project Delivery Lead collaborates closely with the Managing Principal to advance the technical delivery, career path development, and mentorship of area architectural staff and has responsibility for collaborating on technical delivery and business development for cross-business group opportunities with HDR’s Transportation, Resources, Water, Federal, and Building Engineering Systems business groups in the Architecture, Health Care, Justice, Civil, Transportation, and EdSciCom market sectors. Duties include: providing project management team organization and leadership for Architecture projects across New England; developing project management skills for Architecture staff in New England; performing project reviews focusing on delivery oversight, financials, schedule, quality, project staffing and mitigating risk; overseeing and coordinating with sector leaders, production and BIM managers for the success of projects and business group; serving as the Area Quality Leader for Architecture in Massachusetts, Maine, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Vermont and New Hampshire; coordinating with market sector leaders on technical staff assignments for projects across New England and workshare management with other areas and Business Groups; supporting project management processes focusing on removing barriers to execution to support the successful and effective delivery of HDR projects; and actively participating in recruiting efforts for Architecture in New England. This position supervisions multiple Design Coordinators and Senior Design Coordinators.

Requirements

  • A Master’s Degree in Architecture or a closely related field and 8 years of experience in architecture or a Bachelor's Degree in Architecture or a closely related field and 10 years of experience in architecture.
  • Project management, including serving as Project Manager for delivery of Commercial Research Laboratories, Justice and Substance Abuse Treatment Facilities, and Public Transportation System Stations.
  • Managing multiple direct reports.
  • Coordinating project staffing and scheduling.
  • Coordinating with in-house and external consulting engineers.
  • Performing technical review of deliverables.
  • Working with the local operations lead for review of financial performance and other key metrics.
  • Support of proposal submissions, including creating staffing plans.
  • Reviewing subconsultant proposals and coordinating with overall scope.
  • Reviewing client and subconsultant contracts.
  • Assisting in creation of quality and project management policies, procedures, and tools.
  • Use of Excel in conjunction with Oracle-based Business Intelligence platforms.
  • Design software, including Autodesk Revit and related tools and processes.
  • Massachusetts building codes, including requirements related to laboratory chemical quantities.
  • Possible National travel 3 to 4 times per year for 2 to 3 days per trip.
