Project Cost Estimator (Sales Support)
About The Position
The Project Cost Estimator supports the estimation team and sales organization by developing timely, professional business proposals that help grow PCI’s business. The role works across sales, business units, customers, package design, purchasing, engineering, and senior leadership to understand project scope, create competitive pricing strategies, and develop client-focused proposals. It evaluates packaging solutions, materials, equipment, processes, staffing models, production speeds, and efficiency benchmarks to deliver scalable, cost-effective projects that meet client needs and margin objectives. The position also tracks performance metrics, supports continuous improvement, and complies with PCI, cGMP, and GCP policies and procedures. Overtime and weekend work may be needed to meet deadlines and client commitments.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Packing Engineering, or a related field.
- 1–3 years of related experience and/or training.
- College-level mathematical skills.
- Intermediate computer skills, including the ability to perform more complex computer tasks and use various computer programs.
- Full professional proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing for professional needs.
- Very high reasoning ability, including defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, drawing valid conclusions, interpreting technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form, and handling abstract and concrete variables.

Responsibilities
- Collaborate with sales teams, business unit managers, and customers to understand the scope and objectives of business opportunities and align them with organizational growth goals.
- Partner with Cost Estimating and Sales leadership to define competitive, innovative strategies that support profitability and client satisfaction.
- Work with Package Design teams to develop optimized, cost-effective, and sustainable packaging solutions.
- Engage Purchasing and vendor partners to obtain high-quality materials at competitive costs and assess supply chain risks and efficiency opportunities.
- Collaborate with senior leadership, including the Cost Estimating Manager and Sr. VP of Sales, to establish pricing strategies balancing market competitiveness and margin objectives.
- Create client-focused proposal formats that communicate value and differentiate PCI in the marketplace.
- Work with Design and Engineering teams to recommend processes that improve operational efficiency and client outcomes.
- Evaluate and recommend equipment and processes, and conduct strategy sessions with engineering to support project scalability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Determine staffing models, production speeds, and efficiency benchmarks to deliver projects on time and within budget while maintaining quality.
- Track and report key performance metrics and use data-driven insights to inform continuous improvement.
- Support overtime and weekend work when required to meet deadlines and client commitments.
- Comply with PCI, cGMP, and GCP policies and procedures.
- Maintain consistent and reliable attendance.
- Take on additional responsibilities as assigned.
