About The Position

Chew Excavating has an exciting and immediate opening for a Project Coordinator in Victoria. Reporting to the Project Manager, the Project Coordinator would be responsible for supporting field operations through pre-job coordination meetings, scheduling, quantity tracking, progress billing, project start up, project close-out, as built documentation etc. Those with relevant Field experience are encouraged to apply.

Requirements

  • Must have a current and valid class 5 driver’s license
  • Job location is a combination of field and office.
  • Frequent travel to job site locations is required.
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Civil Contracting, specifically underground utility installations is an asset.
  • Familiar with industry jargon, MMCD specifications, materials, and the ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
  • Familiar with, heavy equipment, and the general work process for civil excavation, underground utilities, and roadworks.
  • Relevant education, or equivalent work experience, an asset
  • Field Experience, an asset
  • PMP Certification, an asset
  • CCA Gold Seal, an asset
  • Attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
  • High level of integrity, confidentially, and accountability
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.

  • Previous experience with underground utilities, an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Project Manager and Superintendent with overall project management including submittals, costs, schedule, quality and project status updates
  • Develop and maintain excellent relationship with sub-trades and clients
  • Helps manage the change order process, including pricing, negotiating, processing and assessing costs and schedule impact prior to reviewing with Project Manager/Estimator
  • Administer Requests for Information and the shop drawing process
  • Maintains contractual responsibilities with subcontractors
  • Involved in all facets of project close out, including archiving documents, maintenance and warranty manuals, deficiencies and warranty work
  • Organizing and executing projects from project start to project close out.
  • Coordinating internal resources and third parties/vendors for execution of projects.
  • Tracking and documenting changes to the project scope, project schedule and project costs.
  • Performing take-offs for material orders.
  • Coordinating with sub-contractors for scheduling, progress draws, and invoicing.
  • Prepare and submit project close out submittals.
  • Other duties as assigned
