About The Position

This position is primarily responsible for creating, managing, and administering a micro-grants program through My CHI My Future Program with the Chicago Department of Family and Support Services (DFSS). The role is to develop an application process using a web-based platform; raise awareness of micro-grant opportunities within the 15 target communities; create a process for equitable review, award, and distribution of funding, and fulfill the mission of the My Chi My Future program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s in business management, or certification in project management or a related field preferred
  • 2-3 years of program management and/or administration
  • Sensitivity to cultural diversity is required. Ability to communicate and cooperate with diverse families, various professionals, and community groups.
  • Must have a vehicle with a valid driver’s license and auto insurance.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude working in a high-intensity environment.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of service providers, stakeholders
  • Exercises discretion and independent judgment in executing tasks.
  • Must be able to take initiative.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office tools and inputting services in an online database.
  • Strong skills in Excel and data tracking
  • Competent in adding and maintaining web content
  • Must be able to work on a computer screen for a long period of time
  • Must be able to deliver supplies to community locations, if needed.
  • Must be able to lift 20 pounds and perform event set-up, tear-down

Nice To Haves

  • Grant-making experiences are preferred.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English), bicultural preferred.
  • Experience/willingness to become an expert in Submittable and MCMF app platforms

Responsibilities

  • Manage processes for application, selection, and grant-making in the 15 MCMF Community Strategy Regions that minimize participant burden and deliver an empowering experience.
  • Create and implement an outreach and communications campaign to inform CBOs and stakeholders in the 15 regions about the Micro-Grant program.
  • Monitor and ensure the eligibility of all applicants.
  • Work with DFSS to align grant applications with the MCMF vision and goals.
  • Liaison to eligible grantee organizations in the 15 Community Strategy Regions.
  • Work in cooperation with MCMF Anchor Organizations in all 15 Community Strategy Regions.
  • Ensure that eligible organizations in all regions participate in the grant-making and that all funds are spent according to MCMF stipulations.
  • Responsible for overseeing grantee vouchering in cooperation with SGA's Finance team.
  • Customize maintain an online grants submission and management portal dedicated to the MCMF Micro Grants program utilizing the Submittable platform.
  • Conduct in-person and virtual capacity building for grantees
  • Work in partnership with SGA web developer and Communications Associate to build and maintain a specific page dedicated to the MCMF Micro Grants program.
  • Work in partnership with SGA’s Program Evaluation team to determine outcomes standards for grantees in keeping with the three pillars of the MCMF Community Strategy.
  • Work with DFSS to create fair and inclusive grant review committees.
  • Ensure all micro grant-funded activities are included on the MCMF platform.
  • Attends mandatory training implemented by SGA or funder.
  • Provide technical assistance and follow-up to community-based organizations to remove barriers to participation in the application process.
  • Implements other services requested by SGA or funder.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
