About The Position

As a Project Coordinator for the Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP), you will be a part of the core team implementing one of the largest rural health initiatives in Alaska's history. The RHTP is a five-year federal cooperative agreement investing hundreds of millions of dollars annually to strengthen rural health care, expand access, support innovation, and build more sustainable health systems across Alaska. The program will fund state-led efforts and community-based projects through subrecipient awards to Alaska organizations. Under the supervision of the Senior Project Coordinator, you will support day-to-day implementation, coordination, and stakeholder engagement across multiple initiatives. This position is well-suited for applicants who enjoy coordinating complex work, supporting communities, and turning policy into practical implementation. You will be part of a collaborative team helping translate program goals into real results across Alaska. For more information about the program, please follow this link: https://health.alaska.gov/en/education/rural-health-transformation-program/ . At the Department of Health, our mission is to promote the health, well-being, and self-sufficiency of Alaskans. The Rural Health Transformation Program plays a key role in that mission by driving system-wide innovation, expanding access to care, and helping Alaskan communities develop the health resources they need for the future. The Department fosters a mission-driven, future-oriented culture where employees are encouraged to think boldly, work collaboratively, and help shape the next chapter of health care in Alaska. Through the RHTP, you will join a team leading some of the most ambitious and impactful health system improvements underway in our state. At the Department of Health, we care about supporting the people who serve Alaska. In this role, you will help shape a once-in-a-generation federal investment and see the tangible results of your work in communities across the state. We offer flexibility, hybrid telework options, strong professional development and career advancement pathways, and a comprehensive benefits package that includes health insurance, retirement programs, and generous leave. You will be part of a collaborative, mission-driven team that values innovation, problem-solving, and balance between work and life. Most importantly, you will build a meaningful public service career, one that improves access to care, strengthens rural health systems, and contributes to lasting change for Alaskans. This is a time-limited position funded through the five-year Rural Health Transformation Program cooperative agreement. The role is expected to run for the full project period. This position may be based in Anchorage or Juneau within the Department of Health Commissioner's Office. Anchorage staff work from the Frontier Building at 3601 C Street, and Juneau staff work in the Alaska Office Building downtown, with parking available at each location. The day-to-day environment is fast-paced, team-oriented, and highly collaborative, with a mix of independent work, cross-agency coordination, and engagement with external partners. Travel will be required, including visits to rural communities and regional hubs, as well as occasional trips for federal or statewide meetings.
