About The Position

The Project Coordinator Trainee supports the organization, coordination, and management of solar and energy infrastructure projects located on Moapa Band of Paiutes tribal lands. This is a training-focused entry-level position. This role is designed to build long-term internal capacity within the Tribe in the fields of energy project management, renewable energy development, construction oversight, contract administration, and financial tracking.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to stay organized, manage your time, and follow through on tasks.
  • Comfortable communicating in writing and in person.
  • Basic computer skills: able to use email, Word, and Excel.
  • Willingness to learn and take direction.
  • Valid Nevada Driver’s License.

Nice To Haves

  • Some college coursework is a plus but not required.
  • Any prior experience supporting a project, office, or construction environment.
  • Familiarity with scheduling tools or document management.
  • Interest in renewable energy, the environment, or community economic development.
  • Enrollment in or membership of the Moapa Band of Paiutes or a federally recognized tribe (Indian Preference applies).
  • Ability to learn project management tools, renewable energy concepts, and construction oversight practices through structured training and hands-on experience.
  • Ability to learn contract administration, financial tracking, and regulatory compliance procedures through structured training and hands-on experience.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate documentation, records, and tracking systems.
  • Adaptability and eagerness to learn in a dynamic project environment.
  • Collaborative team approach with the ability to work effectively with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in standard office technology and willingness to learn specialized project management software.

Responsibilities

  • Help track schedules, task lists, and project milestones.
  • Maintain organized files, meeting notes, and project records.
  • Prepare status updates and reports.
  • Become the go-to person for getting answers and coordination on these projects.
  • Help schedule and prepare for meetings with developers, contractors, and Moapa staff.
  • Take notes during meetings and send out lists of next steps and follow-up materials.
  • Participate in both onsite and virtual meetings.
  • Act as a point of contact between developers, contractors, and Moapa staff.
  • Accompany developers and contractors onsite as needed to observe and provide feedback.
  • Help communicate Moapa’s expectations and requirements to outside parties.
  • Help monitor payment schedules and follow up on outstanding invoices.
  • Assist with basic contract administration tasks under the guidance of partners.
  • Become an expert on the status of agreements and whether all parties are in compliance with their agreements.
  • Help prepare materials for Tribal Council updates and community meetings.
  • Occasionally attend meetings outside normal business hours, including some evenings or weekends.
  • Participate in training provided on project management tools and processes.
  • Develop skills in energy project coordination over time, with the goal of growing into a more senior role within the Tribe.
  • Learn and incorporate software and new tools to support all aspects of the role.
