About The Position

The Project Coordinator - Commercial Risk supports project teams and risk management initiatives by coordinating contract administration, risk tracking, claims documentation, and commercial governance activities throughout the project lifecycle. This role helps ensure commercial obligations are met, project risks are monitored, and accurate records are maintained to support informed decision-making and successful project delivery. Effective commercial risk management relies on accurate information, strong documentation, and proactive coordination. This role supports project teams and leadership by monitoring contractual obligations, maintaining key commercial records, tracking risks and claims, and providing critical reporting that helps protect Modern Niagara's interests and support successful project outcomes.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience supporting large infrastructure, industrial, commercial, or institutional construction projects in a commercial, contract administration, project coordination, or project controls capacity.
  • Experience maintaining project documentation, contract records, registers, and reporting tools.
  • Understanding of contract administration, commercial risk management, and project lifecycle processes.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing and reviewing formal project correspondence.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to identify issues, analyze information, and support practical solutions.
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and highly organized with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience within the mechanical contracting industry.
  • Experience supporting major infrastructure, ICI, or alternative delivery projects.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Finance, Business, or a related discipline.
  • Experience working with project management, contract management, document control, or risk management software.
  • Knowledge of contract management principles, commercial risk assessment methodologies, and project governance practices.
  • Experience supporting claims management, dispute tracking, or commercial reporting activities.
  • Experience working with executive-level reporting and governance committees.
  • Familiarity with project controls, procurement, or contract compliance processes.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with project teams to support timely execution of contractual obligations and adherence to project schedules.
  • Maintain and administer contract databases, including key contract terms, supplemental conditions, expiration dates, and amendments.
  • Support the preparation, review, and tracking of formal project correspondence, including notices, requests, responses, and contractual communications.
  • Maintain claims and dispute registers, tracking commercial issues throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Monitor and maintain project risk and opportunity logs, identifying trends and systemic risks across the organization.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of contractual documents, correspondence, claims, disputes, and commercial communications.
  • Organize contract files, amendments, project records, and supporting documentation for efficient retrieval and audit readiness.
  • Support Project Advisory Committees in the assessment, management, and mitigation of commercial and contractual risks.
  • Coordinate the preparation of reports, dashboards, and status updates for executive leadership and Project Advisory Committees.
  • Monitor adherence to corporate risk management policies, procedures, and governance requirements.
  • Assist with commercial reviews, risk assessments, and special projects as required.
  • Collaborate with project teams, legal, procurement, finance, and operations stakeholders to support effective contract and risk management practices.
