About The Position

Maple Reinders Constructors is currently searching for a talented Project Coordinator (level 1) to join our team in Edmonton, Alberta. As a Project Coordinator in our Buildings division, you will have the opportunity to support our Project Managers in the delivery of our exciting Industrial, Commercial and Institutional building projects. The focus of your role will be to maintain contract documentation, support estimating and assisting with the preparation of budgets and schedules. We work on a variety of types of contracts such as Design Build, Plan and Spec and Construction Management and you would gain experience on all of these. The career plan for the coordinator is to become a Project Manager where you are overseeing your own projects and the pace this happens will be up to you. The purpose of the coordinator in supporting the Project Manager is to ensure that a profit is made on the project, that the work is performed as per the contract documents, that the project is completed with outstanding quality, and that the jobsite is a safe workplace.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 0.5 - 1.5 years or more experience as a Project Coordinator or consultant in the construction or similar industry.
  • A University Degree/Technology Diploma in Civil Engineering or Construction Management, or a combination of education and industry experience.

  • Individuals who have the skills and desire to take on the role of Project Coordinator but have the drive to become a Project Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Support the preparation of project budgets and construction schedules, and help organize project documentation/files
  • Under the guidance of the Project Manager or Senior Project Coordinator, assist with drafting and managing communications with the Owner, Architect, Engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers
  • Develop a working understanding of the procurement process, including identifying subcontractors and suppliers and obtaining pricing
  • Assist in reviewing and clarifying scopes of work with subcontractors and vendors
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, consultants, developers, and other project stakeholders
  • Promote and support a strong safety culture on-site, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and company health and safety policies
  • Participate in site meetings and help track and resolve project deficiencies
  • Assist with tender close-out activities in coordination with senior leadership
