About The Position

AFRY is seeking a Project Controls Specialist to join their project controls team. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of Project Controls principles, theories, concepts, current industry practices, and standards. The specialist will be responsible for various cost elements of a project, including managing scope changes, inputting and updating budget and expenditure information, and forecasting into cost reporting systems. They will prepare and analyze revenue and cost, and recommend corrective actions to the project manager. The role involves setting up, monitoring, and forecasting cost and schedule elements, collaborating to develop project schedules using Interactive Planning sessions, statusing schedule activities, performing critical path analysis, integrating change notices, and providing recommendations to the project team. Additionally, the specialist will be responsible for resource loading the schedule to determine peak staffing needs within Engineering and Construction. This position reports administratively to the Project Controls Manager and functionally to the assigned Project Manager, with a working relationship with clients, vendors, project team members, and other AFRY business units.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field or equivalent practical years of experience
  • At least 5 years of Project Controls demonstrated experience in the following markets: Consumer Products, Pulp & Paper, Foundry, Chemical Processing, Electric Vehicles, and/or Data Centers
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project
  • Proven experience with Project Controls principles and methods including, but not limited to: Budgeting, Forecasting, Change Management, Work Breakdown Structures, Earned Value, Contingency, Schedule Planning, development, updating, and resource loading
  • Ability to effectively communicate with project management, other project leads, the client, vendors, and construction management
  • Ability to proactively identify potential problems and elevate these to the appropriate level(s) of management
  • Thorough planning and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary engineering environment
  • Ability to perform presentations to AFRY management team
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office products, especially MS Excel

Responsibilities

  • Status the schedule activities, perform critical path analysis, integrate change notices with known impacts and provide recommendations to the project team.
  • Resource load the schedule to determine peak staffing needs within Engineering and Construction.
