About The Position

Herzog Contracting Corp. is currently seeking a highly detailed Project Controls Specialist in St. Joseph, MO to join our team. This role supports the Project Controls Manager and project teams with cost forecasting, budget management, cash flow tracking, and project performance reporting throughout the project lifecycle. The specialist will monitor and analyze project costs, production quantities, labor productivity, and key performance metrics to identify trends and support decision-making. They will also develop and maintain project controls dashboards, reporting tools, and performance metrics for timely and accurate project visibility. Additionally, the role assists with project planning, progress tracking, schedule updates, and operational reviews to support successful project execution. Preparation and distribution of project, division, and executive-level reports, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with company standards, are key functions. Support for joint venture (JV) projects through reporting, documentation management, meeting preparation, and contract compliance tracking is also required. Collaboration with field operations, project management, estimating, and finance teams to drive project controls best practices, data standardization, and continuous improvement initiatives is essential. Regular and consistent engagement, participation, and promotion of Herzog’s Culture and its essential behaviors, along with regular and predictable attendance and punctuality, are requirements for this position. Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
5+ years of experience in construction project controls, data analysis, estimating, finance, or project management support.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and advanced data analysis techniques.
Strong understanding of construction scheduling, cost controls, forecasting, and operational reporting.
Excellent analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced construction environment.
Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review.
Subject to pre-employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen.
Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.
Must successfully pass color/vision examinations as required by the position.
Must be able to hear and distinguish auditory signals as required by the position.

Nice To Haves

Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or other business intelligence and visualization tools preferred.
Familiarity with Procore, CMiC, WinEst, SAP, EcoSys, or similar construction/project management platforms is a bonus.
Experience supporting industrial, commercial, infrastructure, or heavy civil construction projects preferred.
