About The Position

RS&H is seeking a Project Controls Manager to support its project finance team. The role may be performed on a hybrid or remote schedule from an RS&H office, preferably in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Virginia, or Texas. The manager oversees project controls across planning, cost management, scheduling, risk assessment, and performance measurement, leading project controllers and collaborating with project managers, finance, and other stakeholders to deliver projects on time, within budget, and in accordance with company standards. The position leads project lifecycle and financial processes across a portfolio of complex projects, including work breakdown structure setup, budgeting, scope and fee proposals, and financial analysis. It supervises and develops the project controller team, coordinates monthly financial reviews and issue resolution, advances revenue recognition, and establishes project controls practices to identify and mitigate risks. The manager also oversees contract and subcontract execution, invoicing, audits, project performance, stakeholder communications, and project and opportunity records in the ERP system. RS&H is an employee-owned architecture, engineering, and consulting firm. Its Transportation-Construction Management Practice provides construction engineering, program management, testing, and inspection services through the full transportation project lifecycle.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in finance, engineering, construction management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
At least 8 years of relevant experience, including at least 4 years in the AEC industry.
At least 2 years of experience managing a team of Project Control professionals.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong knowledge of project controls practices and financial accounting.
Leadership ability to manage a team and drive performance through effective feedback and mentoring.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with exceptional organizational and prioritization abilities.
Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Self-starter with a strong work ethic and eagerness to learn.

Nice To Haves

PMP, CPCP, or CAPM certification preferred.
Experience using ERP systems such as Deltek or Oracle and tools such as Power BI and SharePoint is a plus.
Working knowledge of Deltek or equivalent ERP software.

Responsibilities

Lead project lifecycle processes, including WBS setup, budgeting, scope and fee proposals, and financial analysis across a portfolio of complex projects.
Supervise, mentor, and guide the project controller team, including setting performance objectives aligned with corporate goals.
Lead and coordinate monthly financial reviews with project management, accounting, and FP&A teams; resolve issues and drive revenue recognition.
Develop and implement project controls policies and practices to identify, monitor, and mitigate risks affecting project success.
Oversee contract and subcontract execution and ensure accurate client and subconsultant invoicing in collaboration with project management and billing staff.
Conduct periodic audits to ensure maximum rates are invoiced and compliance is maintained.
Monitor project controls activities to ensure scope, budget, and deliverables are achieved, and proactively communicate with stakeholders.
Participate in client management and business operations meetings; review and recommend updates to project and opportunity records in the ERP system.
Foster a collaborative, empowering, high-performance team environment through coaching, feedback, recognition, and clear communication.
