About The Position

The Project Controls Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the project controls functions within a construction project environment. This role involves developing, implementing, and maintaining effective project control processes, systems, and strategies to ensure projects are completed within scope, budget, and schedule. The Project Controls Manager collaborates with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and management to monitor, analyze, and report project performance, making data-driven recommendations for improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related field (master’s preferred).
  • Proven experience (8+ years) in project controls, project management, or a related role within the construction or engineering industry.
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies, techniques, and tools.
  • Proficiency in project control software, such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar tools.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills.
  • Effective communication, leadership, and teamwork abilities.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, safety vest), as needed.
  • Must be able to work 8 hours a day, 40 hours per week, and overtime as required and night shifts, as needed.
  • Must be on-call to address delays, emergencies, bad weather, and other issues at the jobsite.
  • This position requires travel by vehicle, the ability to work and walk at construction sites during all stages, in all types of weather conditions.
  • Must be able to work in the presence of customers and their representatives with little or no interference or disruption to the customer while maintaining a professional and courteous image.

  • Professional certifications like PMP, CCP, or similar are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement project control strategies, methodologies, and best practices to ensure effective project planning, monitoring, and execution.
  • Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure project progress, cost, schedule adherence, and overall performance.
  • Develop project schedules, including critical path analysis and resource allocation.
  • Monitor project schedule performance, identify schedule risks, delays, and opportunities for acceleration, and propose mitigation strategies.
  • Gather and analyze project data to generate performance reports, dashboards, and insights.
  • Present project performance metrics and trends to stakeholders and management.
  • Foster effective communication between project teams, stakeholders, and management regarding project controls and performance.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, planners, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure alignment of project control efforts.
  • Ensure project control processes and documentation comply with industry standards and organizational policies.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance project control processes and outcomes.
  • Provide guidance, training, and mentoring to project control team members.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices related to project controls.
  • Utilize project management and control software/tools to support project control activities, data analysis, and reporting.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective processes, completion of projects and smooth operation of department.
