DSM North America, Inc. is seeking a Project Controls Engineer for its Plainsboro, New Jersey location. This role involves early-phase project cost estimating (FEL 1-3) for R&D, Chemical & Industrial Plants (Biotech – Fermentation), and Animal & Human Nutrition facilities compliant with cGMP. The engineer will develop Project Controls Plans for CAPEX projects, perform cost and schedule forecasts at completion using CPI and SPI, and support global cost estimating databases for KPIs, benchmarking, and cost appraisals. Key responsibilities include documenting the Basis of Estimate (BOE), creating Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) for Brownfield and Greenfield projects, estimating total installed factors for ISBL and OSBL scope, and estimating owner costs/internal resource allocations. The role also requires validating consolidated estimates against industry data, conducting Project Risk Assessments (PRA) including quantitative and qualitative analysis (Monte-Carlo modeling), managing opportunities, and validating cost and schedule performance. Additionally, the engineer will develop project escalation & inflation estimating models, integrate contractor schedules, perform time impact and critical path analyses, and manage Project Controls requirements for engineering and construction contracts (e.g., AIA G702/G703). Performance indicators, data, and trends will be reported using dashboards, and Market Intelligence (CMI) will be investigated. The role also involves contributing to Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives and presenting project cost estimates during Stage Gate Reviews (SGR) worldwide.
