About The Position

Amtrak is hiring Project Controls Cost and Estimating professionals to support its Capital Delivery department. These roles involve developing, using, and improving enterprise tools, systems, and work processes for effective management, control, and reporting on cost, schedule, and progress measurement for high-complexity projects and programs. Individuals will collaborate with Portfolio/Project Leadership and Project Controls teams to create integrated master schedules, project budgets/forecasts, and risk registers using standard tools. A key responsibility includes driving the evaluation and impact assessment of identified project risks to provide project teams with data for developing risk mitigation plans and contingencies. Opportunities exist to support major capital construction and infrastructure renewal projects across the Amtrak system, including projects like the Susquehanna River Bridge, Sawtooth Bridges Replacement, East River Tunnels, Connecticut River Bridge, Frederick Douglass (B&P) Tunnels, and the Concrete Tie Replacement Program.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in project controls, cost and estimating skills.
  • Financial skills (budget management, financial reporting).
  • Project risk management experience.
  • Strong focus on collaboration, team building and customer service.
  • Effectiveness working diplomatically across teams with varying objectives.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills across all levels.
  • Ability to analyze, organize and present project reports and other related project information.
  • Expertise in Primavera/Oracle PPM, MS Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), SharePoint, and/or Power BI tools.
  • Experience performing or leading project controls for mid ($50M+) to large ($500M+) capital construction projects, programs, and/or portfolios.
  • Pre-employment background check including prior employment verification, criminal history check, and pre-employment drug screen.
  • Must provide written consent for Amtrak to obtain prior drug and alcohol testing records for safety-sensitive duties.
  • Must pass federal law governing security checks for providers of public transportation.

Nice To Haves

  • Transportation industry experience preferred.
  • Experience with establishing standard practices and business processes pertaining to project control’s function, including drafting, or updating of technical specifications, procedures, or policies.
  • Experience managing/supervising a team to achieve performance results welcomed.
