About The Position

Primoris Heavy Civil is seeking a Project Controls Analyst II to join our Belton, TX Division Office. The Project Controls Analyst II is responsible for supporting the financial and operational success of assigned projects through advanced cost control, forecasting, scheduling, reporting, and performance analysis. This role serves as a key partner to project teams by providing insightful analysis, identifying risks and opportunities, and ensuring projects are executed within budget and on schedule. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of project controls principles, construction operations, and cost management processes, with the ability to work independently on moderately complex projects while mentoring less experienced team members.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in Project Controls, Cost Control, Project Accounting, Project Management Support, or a related field, preferably within the construction industry.
  • 2-4 years of experience in Heavy Civil construction, infrastructure, industrial, or similar construction environments preferred.
  • Strong understanding of project controls processes, including cost management, forecasting, scheduling, and performance reporting.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyze large datasets and provide actionable recommendations to project teams and leadership.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of management.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables, Power Query, lookups, and data analysis tools.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and reporting tools.
  • Experience utilizing project controls software such as Primavera P6, EcoSys, Vista/Viewpoint, Power BI, or other construction management systems.
  • Understanding of earned value management (EVM), forecasting methodologies, and key project performance metrics.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and time-management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business Management, Finance, Accounting, or a related field preferred. Relevant industry experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

  • Develop project budgets from estimates and allocate costs according to company-standard codes of accounts.
  • Lead project setup activities, including coding structure, budget loading, quantity tracking, and baseline establishment.
  • Develop, maintain, and analyze project schedules throughout planning, procurement, construction, and closeout phases.
  • Coordinate and maintain project budgets, forecasts, commitments, expenditures, and change management activities within project controls systems.
  • Monitor project costs, productivity, quantities, and progress to identify trends, risks, and potential impacts to project performance.
  • Review and validate timesheet, invoice, and cost coding accuracy to ensure reliable project reporting.
  • Prepare detailed cost, schedule, productivity, and performance analyses and present recommendations to project management teams.
  • Facilitate regular forecast and cost review meetings with project stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain internal and external cost reports, dashboards, forecasts, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Support monthly project reviews by preparing management reports and executive summary packages.
  • Assist project teams with earned value management, cash flow forecasting, and project performance metrics.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices related to project controls and reporting.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to Project Controls Analyst I personnel as needed.
  • Coordinate the assembly, review, and distribution of project reporting packages and technical documentation.
  • Make periodic construction site visits as required.
