About The Position

COMPA Industries is searching for highly qualified candidates for an onsite Project Construction Manager A – Nightshift position in Aiken, SC supporting SRNS. This role is best suited for a hands-on construction leader with experience managing field teams, subcontractors, supervisors, project staff, and matrixed personnel in a complex industrial, nuclear, DOE/NNSA, government, or large-capital-project environment. The Project Construction Manager A will manage construction projects and maintenance activities across multiple moderately complex, multi-million-dollar projects from conceptual design through completion. This position is responsible for ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and at the required quality level. The selected candidate will provide daily management direction to supervisors, monitor construction progress, resolve field execution challenges, manage cost and schedule baselines, and coordinate with Operations, DOE, project teams, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline and 13–15 years of practical experience in construction. In-depth knowledge of construction, cost and scheduling, subcontract administration, and the ability to develop or evaluate construction strategies and techniques. An associate degree and 15–17 years of practical experience would be considered equivalent. A high school diploma and 17–19 years of practical experience would be considered equivalent. A comprehensive knowledge and understanding of project management and project planning at the tactical level would be ideal, along with knowledge of operations, maintenance, project startup, construction management, and construction subcontracts.
  • Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” security clearance.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction, cost, scheduling, subcontract administration, and construction execution.
  • Ability to develop, evaluate, and implement construction strategies and techniques.
  • Comprehensive understanding of project management and project planning at the tactical level.
  • Knowledge of operations, maintenance, project startup, construction management, and construction subcontracts.
  • Ability to manage project staff, field personnel, supervisors, subcontractors, and matrixed team members.
  • Strong ability to identify, address, and resolve complex construction problems.
  • Ability to provide clear, concise, and accurate presentations regarding construction status, including technical, organizational, and financial issues.
  • Strong leadership, communication, teamwork, and decision-making skills.
  • U.S. Citizenship Required

Nice To Haves

  • Candidates who have possessed an active DOE clearance, L or Q, within the past two years are preferred.
  • Multifaceted in all construction disciplines.
  • Working knowledge of CAD and/or SmartPlant software.
  • Experience with large construction projects and working with DOE/NNSA.

Responsibilities

  • Manage construction projects and maintenance activities from conceptual design through construction, turnover, and completion.
  • Lead construction execution with primary responsibility for safety, quality, schedule, and cost.
  • Provide daily direction to supervisors and receive field feedback to support safe and efficient execution.
  • Manage a dedicated construction organization to ensure project and maintenance activities are completed to customer expectations.
  • Provide concise and accurate construction status updates to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Analyze complex construction issues and develop corrective action strategies.
  • Perform risk analysis and approve corrective actions, priorities, and recovery strategies.
  • Optimize construction efficiency by providing construction input during design, construction, turnover, and completion phases.
  • Manage established cost, schedule, and technical baselines.
  • Coordinate with Operations, DOE, project controls, engineering, maintenance, subcontractors, and other site organizations.
  • Manage professional and nonexempt personnel, including performance feedback, career development, motivation, and work direction.
  • Foster a strong team environment across multiple disciplines and organizations.
  • Promote a safety-first culture where safety takes priority over schedule and cost considerations.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to ensure effective coordination, communication, and execution.
