Working under limited supervision, this role is responsible for conducting research, gathering and analyzing information, and developing findings or recommendations to support department programs, projects, and operational decisions. This role supports projects that build and maintain internal and public facing dashboards, maps, and datasets. Responsibilities include performing quality assurance testing on data and creating data visualizations and maps that are accurate and accessible for end users. An example of project support involves reviewing permits that impact the closure of city streets. This role reviews a permit's attached PDF or image that depicts the closure. They update an ArcGIS map with the closure and stay on top of new permits each week. They digitally draw the closures on the map, update relevant data, and make sure the public-facing geospatial data is accurate. The ideal candidate can identify opportunities for automation and is comfortable working with code. Incumbents at this level possess the skill and demonstrated ability to support data-driven decision-making within the organization as well as the city overall.
