About The Position

As a Project Architect at CDM Smith, you'll lead and collaborate on complex, high-impact projects ranging from water and wastewater facilities, transit centers, and federal installations to industrial campuses, and workplace environments. Working alongside a multidisciplinary team of architects, engineers, planners, and technical specialists, you'll have the opportunity to influence design solutions, mentor emerging professionals, and help deliver projects that make a lasting impact on the communities we serve.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture.
  • 7 years of related experience.
  • Must possess RA certification.
  • Solid technical knowledge and design application knowledge.
  • Expert knowledge of technologies and methodologies in the use of construction materials.
  • Expert knowledge of Building Information Modeling and software, preferably Revit, and Navisworks.
  • Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD), preferably AutoCAD.
  • Familiarity with rendering software programs and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Familiarity with Bluebeam Revu.
  • Expert knowledge of basic business office software (Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a college degree.
  • NCARB Certificate for reciprocity.
  • Experience signing and sealing project documents.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and work with junior staff to plan, program, and formulate building design and prepare design presentation and construction contract documents.
  • Develop building design criteria directly with clients. Lead preparation of presentation materials and make presentations.
  • Lead development and coordination of building design and construction contract documents with architectural and multi-discipline engineering staff.
  • Guide and mentor junior architectural staff on multi-discipline projects and pursuit of licensure.
  • Determination of construction materials, technologies and methodologies for detailing. and specifications.
  • Preparation and editing of technical specifications.
  • Confirm compliance with applicable planning, zoning, and building codes and regulations, including coordination with agencies having jurisdiction.
  • Support development of project budgets and schedules, both internal and external.
  • Support sales, overseeing the creation of proposal renderings and documents in response to client request for proposals.
